meet the staff
Rick and his wife, Randi, arrived in Kingston in July 2005 after pastoring churches in the UMC's Marquette, MI and Flint, MI districts. Before entering the ministry, Rick served 20 years as a pilot and engineer in the USAF. He later taught at Michigan Technological University in Houghton. Rick is the Port Huron district coordinator for evangelism and the district representative to the conference board of discipleship. The Browns have two grown children. Son Adam is employed by the State of California. Daughter Allison is attending law school in Pennsylvania.
Floyd Heron - Administrative Board Floyd has served for many years as our church's Administrative Board chairperson. The "ad board" directs the church's legal, financial, and personnel affairs. Board meetings are held at 7 pm, on the second Monday of each month. Anyone associated with the church may attend our meetings.
Mari Peter - Worship and Parish Life Mari serves as chairperson of our Committee on Worship and Parish Life (in effect, our council on ministries). W&PL leaders gather the first Sunday of the month for prayer and discussion. We are increasingly sensing opportunities for expanded ministry.
"Cissie" Hale - Nursery Attendant Cissie became our caregiver in the nursery in December 2006. She holds a part time job as a school bus driver for the Kingston Area Independent School District, as well. Cissie has already made dozens of useful improvements to the nursery. She quickly won the confidence of both the church and its children. The nursery is open for two hours on Sunday morning, beginning a few minutes after 9 am and closing a few minutes after 11 am.
Ruth works for the church part-time, preparing weekly worship bulletins, bi-monthly newsletters, and other reports and materials, as needed. Ruth is normally in the church office Thursday afternoons.
